The #2 ranked Mississippi College Women's Soccer team knocked off Rollins 2-1 on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 5) in comeback fashion. The Lady Choctaws improve to 1-1 (0-0 GSC) on the year while Rollins falls to 0-2 (0-0 SSC) after MC scored the final 2 goals of the match after falling behind 1-0 early.
The Lady Choctaws fell behind early when Briyah Drayton gave Rollins the early lead as she scored in the 9th minute.
Avery Hederman got the equalizer for MC in the 39th minute as she scored on a curving shot from the top of the box off an assist from
Holly Pascoe. This was Avery's first goal of the season, and also marked the first goal of the season for the Lady Choctaws.
Erin Hederman then gave the Lady Choctaws the lead for good early in the 2nd half as she scored the go-ahead goal in the 48th minute to secure the Hederman sister brace and the MC win.
Ashton Storey was credited with the assist.
MC had to overcome some adversity late when defender
Kaylee Foster was sent off with a red card in the 76th minute, but goalkeeper
Sara Maleski helped secure the victory with a big save late. MC was able to see out the final minutes, with Rollins holding the numbers advantage, to get the 2-1 victory.
Overall, the shot totals were nearly even with Rollins holding a slight advantage 13-12. The Lady Choctaws were more threatening with their chances though as MC held an 8-5 edge in shots on goal.
Erin Hederman led the way for MC in total shots with 3 (all 3 were on goal to also lead the team in that category as well).

Beatrice Currie, and
Emily McNair all had 2 shots apiece. Both of Currie's shots were on goal.
Next up, MC will host LSU-Alexandria on Friday afternoon (Sept. 10) for the Lady Choctaws' home opener. First kick is set for 1:00 pm. This will be MC's final match before they head into Gulf South Conference play on September 17th.
