The Mississippi College women's soccer team knocked off LSU-Alexandria in commanding fashion 8-0 on Friday afternoon (Sept. 10). The Lady Choctaws improved to 2-1 (0-0 GSC) while the LSU-A Generals fell to 1-2 (0-0 RRAC).
It was all MC for the majority of the match as things got started early with
Beatrice Currie striking first in the 9th minute off of an assist from Ashton Story. Currie then locked up a 1st half brace with a goal in the 23rd minute that made it 2-0. The 2nd goal came off a long assist from
Avery Hederman.
Holly Pascoe then got in on the action as she scored her first goal since 2018 in the 25th minute to make it 3-0.
Caroline Naman got a buzzer beater as she scored with just 2 seconds left in the 1st half off of an assist from Pascoe to make it a 4-0 lead for the Lady Choctaws heading into the halftime break.
The 2nd half was much of the same as MC would tack on 4 more goals in the final 45.
Erin Hederman got a brace in quick succession as she scored in the 61st minute to make it 5-0, and then again in the 63rd minute to make it 6-0.
Avery Hederman and Pascoe respectively were credited with the assists.
Ashton Storey then scored on a golazo from outside the box (unassailed) in the 74th minute to make it 7-0.
The 8th and final goal came from
Madison Morgan in the 83rd minute of her Lady Choctaw debut off an assist from
Marion Scott.
Overall, MC outshot the Generals 37-5 and also had a commanding 21-2 edge in shots on goal. The Lady Choctaws also shut LSUA out from corner kicks as well as MC had a 8-0 advantage in that category.
The large margin of victory also allowed for a large number of Lady Choctaws to see action and also allowed a plethora of players to make their MC debuts. Overall, 24 players saw action, including 9 who got saw their first action as Lady Choctaws.

Next up, the Lady Choctaws will head into Gulf South Conference play on the road next weekend. They will travel to take on AUM next Friday (Sept. 17) at 5:00 pm and Montevallo next Sunday (Sept. 19) at 1:00 pm. The Lady Choctaws were picked to finish 1st in the GSC preseason poll.
