Lady Choctaws Rout Shorter 4-0

CLINTON, Miss. --The Mississippi College women's soccer team dominated Shorter 4-0 on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 26). The Lady Choctaws improved to 5-2 (3-1 GSC) while Shorter fell to 1-6 (0-4 GSC). 

Holly Pascoe got things started early for MC as she scored in the 8th minute on an assist from Dani Avelar to put MC up 1-0. The goal was Pascoe's 4th of the season

Beatrice Currie then doubled the Lady Choctaw lead in the 29th minute as she also scored her 4th goal of the season. 

Madison Morgan then put a cap on the first half as she scored in the 40th minute on an assist from Stella French.

The 4th goal for the Lady Choctaws came in the 83rd minute as Carolina Naman scored. Morgan and Naman's goals marked the 2nd of the season for each player.

MC was in full control of the match throughout, with Shorter struggling to retain possession and not ever really threatening the MC goal.

Overall, MC outshot Shorter 36-2 and outpaced Shorter 19-0 in shots on goal. The Lady Choctaws also had an 8-2 edge in corners. 24 different Lady Choctaws appeared in the match with 14 different players taking a shot. MaryElla White led the way in shots with 7. She also added 4 on goal which led the team as well. Olivia Gelpi also added 5 shots.

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on the road next weekend as they travel to take on Alabama-Huntsville on Friday afternoon (Oct. 1) and West Alabama on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 3).
