Lady Choctaws fall 1-0 to Lee

CLINTON, Miss. --The Mississippi College women's soccer team dropped a tight hard fought contest 1-0 to #18 Lee University on Friday afternoon (Sept. 24). The Lady Choctaws fell to 4-2 (2-1) while Lee improved to 6-0 (3-0). 

It was an even first half with both team having some chances, but neither team being able to find the back of the net. In the first half, MC led Lee in shots 4-3 with Erin Hederman taking 3 of the shots for MC.

Lee got the deciding goal of the match in the 65th minute as Ellie Crisler scored unassisted to put Lee up 1-0.

The Lady Choctaws had some chances and the run of play after the goal, but couldn't find the equalizer as they fell to the Lady Flames.

Overall, MC had the edge in total shots 11-9 although Lee held the edge in shots on goal 4-3. Beatrice Currie led MC in shots with 5. Currie, Erin Hederman, and Holly Pascoe all had a shot on goal. Sara Maleski made 3 saves in goal for the Lady Choctaws.

The loss snapped the Lady Choctaws' 20 match GSC regular season win streak, marking their first loss in GSC regular season play since 2018.

MC will be back in action on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 26) as they host Shorter University.
