CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team split its doubleheader with in-state and Gulf South Conference foe, Delta State, on Saturday, May 1. The Choctaws (16-20, 13-18) bounced back to pick up the nightcap, 6-5. DSU (23-16, 21-14 GSC) claimed the opening game of the day with a 15-2 victory.

Alex Hay led MC at the dish as he drove in four runs on two, two-run home runs.

Markarius Lee and
Mack Pickering each logged a pair of hits during the twinbill with Lee and Pickering each having a multiple-hit effort in the second game of the day.

Bryce Lewis (3-4) picked up the win on the bump while
Lance Wade (2) picked up the save in the contest. Lewis fanned four in seven innings and gave up four hits on seven hits. Wade tossed the final 1.2 innings, walked one, and struck out one.

Jackson Bridges (5-4) was saddled with the loss in the opening game. He allowed nine runs – seven earned – on 11 hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

The split wraps up the season for Mississippi College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delta State jumped on the board early with five runs in its first trip at-bat. DSU scored all five runs by way of home runs, three in the inning. The Statesmen added two more in the top of the third, headlined by Chad Ragland's two-RBI, single up the middle.
- After Blayke Dendy's home run in the top of the fourth, Hay placed the Navy and Gold on the board with a two-run home run, which scored Scott.
- DSU added another run in the fifth and then a two-run home run in the sixth and another in the seventh along with a RBI single from Jake Barlow concluded the scoring in the contest.

Dustan Dille each saw action from the bullpen. Smith tossed 2.2 innings and allowed three runs on four hits along with a strikeout. Dille surrendered three runs on four hits in an inning of work.
- Christian Day (6-2) fanned three, walked one and allowed five hits in the complete-game performance for the Statesmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Leading 1-0, Mississippi College plated two more in the fourth inning as Farid and Pickering each provided RBI-singles to increase the lead to 3-0.
- After Barlow tied the contest on a three-run home run in the top of the sixth, the Choctaws regained the lead in the bottom half of the frame headlined by Hay's second dinger of the day. McGrew broke the deadlock with a RBI-single to start the inning.
- DSU attempted a rally as it looked for the sweep, but added only two runs in the top of the eighth.

Dylan Marsh saw action out of the bullpen in the contest. Marsh gave up a run on two hits and walk in one-third of an inning.
- Charlie Darnall (2-1) took the loss on the mound as he gave up all three runs in the sixth without recording an out.

- Delta State improves to 124-46-2 in the series, but had its four-game win streak in the series snapped.
- Hay's two home runs are the third and fourth of the season and his first since Feb. 28 against Miles College. Mississippi College finished the season with 44 home runs on the year.
