CLINTON, Miss. --- Sophomore
Rayne Minor robbed a home run in the seventh inning of a 3-2 win over West Alabama on Wednesday night at the MC Softball Complex.
The win gave the Lady Choctaws (16-16) a doubleheader split with the Tigers (18-20), who won the opener by a score of 8-4.

GAME ONE: WEST ALABAMA 8, MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The teams traded runs in the second inning, including a two-out RBI double from
Gracie Trahan that scored
Morgan Bradford after she doubled to open the frame.
 - The Tigers took off from there, scoring in every inning the rest of the way.
 - After a run in the 3rd, LP Trammel hit a two-run home run in the 4th inning and West Alabama had a 4-1 lead.
 - They would score twice more in the 5th and take a 6-1 lead after an RBI single from Grace Self.
 -
McCall Lee cut into the lead in MC's half of the 5th, hitting her team-leading fifth home run of the season to cut the score to 6-2.
 - Kendall Johnson doubled home a run with two outs for the Tigers to push the lead back out to 7-2.
 - Trahan struck again in MC's 6th with a two-run home run, her third of the season, to cut the deficity back to 7-4.
 - The Tigers would tack on another run in the 7th to give the game its final score.
KEY STATS
 - Both teams had double-figures in hits with MC putting up 10 and West Alabama posting 11.
 - Minor and Trahan each had a pair of hits with Trahan driving in a team-high three runs.

Avery Barnett (7-4) took the loss in the circle, giving up 10 hits and seven earned runs over 5.2 innings.
 - Self had a team-high three hits and was joined by Trammel with a team-high two RBI.
 - Kacy Noland (8-9) picked up the win for UWA, tossing a complete game and striking out five with no walks.

GAME TWO: MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 3, WEST ALABAMA 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Lady Choctaws took their first lead of the day in the 1st inning as Minor led off with a single, stole second and came in to score on a sac fly from
Brooke Fagan.
 - The Tigers scored both of their runs in the 3rd inning, taking a 2-1 lead and chalking up a pair of unearned runs on two MC errors in the frame.
 - MC finally was able to tie the score in the 5th inning as Fagan drove Minor in again, this time with a groundout.
 - The Lady Choctaws scored the game-winning run in the 6th, putting together a pair of two-out singles from
Paige Hulin and Minor to load the bases.
 - Lee was able to draw a bases loaded walk on a 3-2 count to bring
Annemarie Peavy home with the game-winning run.
 - The first batter of the 7th for UWA, Trammell, sent a shot to the left-center field wall the Minor skied to haul in and keep MC with the lead.
 -
Avery Sanders was able to get two groundouts to end the game and finish off the complete-game effort.
KEY STATS
 - Sanders (9-11), allowed just four hits with two unearned runs over 7.0 innings with six strikeouts.
 - Minor led the way with three hits and two more stolen bases, giving her four in the doubleheader.
 - Fagan drove in a pair of runs, while
Jordan LaFosse had two hits for MC.
 - Cassie Matlock had two hits to lead the West Alabama offense.
 - Kaeleigh Crutchfield (5-2) took the loss in the circle for UWA, allowing nine hits and three earned runs over 6.0 innings.

NEXT UP
 - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action on Friday when they face Lee in a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. (CT).
 - The series was moved up a day due to rain expected in the area over the weekend.
