CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team could not overcome a slow start in a 7-1 loss to #23 Auburn Montgomery on Sunday afternoon at the MC Softball Complex.
The Lady Choctaws (15-15, 12-11 GSC) gave up five runs in the first inning and the Warhawks (29-5, 19-5 GSC) completed the three-game sweep with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Warhawks got going early with five runs in the first inning, including three home runs.
 - Molly Cobb sent an opposite field, two-run shot to open things, while Jaycie Walker followed that with a solo home run to make the score 3-0.
 - Parker Pinholster completed the five-run frame with a two-run home run of her own and AUM had a 5-0 lead before MC came to bat.
 - The Lady Choctaws got a run back in their half of the first as
Morgan Bradford singled home
Brooke Fagan.
 - That was the only offense MC could muster on the day, however, as they were held to six hits.
 - The Warhawks added two more runs in the 3rd inning on RBI singles from Gia Martin and Margaret Morgan.
 - The Lady Choctaws threatened a few times to put runs on the board, but they left nine runners on base.
KEY STATS
 - Bradford and
Gracie Trahan each had two hits for the Lady Choctaws with Trahan doubling in the 4th inning.

Avery Sanders (8-11) took the loss for MC, allowing two home runs in the first inning.

Avery Barnett tossed the final 6.2 innings, and gave up nine hits with four earned runs.
 - Three different Warhawks had two hits in the game, while Kendall Tucker also scored twice.
 - Cydney Sizemore (5-1) came out of the bullpen to get the win, pitching 3.0 innings and giving up just three hits with three strikeouts.

 - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Wednesday night when they host West Alabama for a non-conference tilt.
