Lady Choctaws Get Big Win Over Valdosta State, 4-3

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team secured their fourth win in the last five matches with a 4-3 victory over Valdosta State on Monday morning at Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

The Lady Choctaws (5-5, 4-3 GSC) moved into a tie for 5th in the GSC standings with the win over the Blazers (5-8, 5-4 GSC).
 

MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 4, VALDOSTA STATE 3

DOUBLES ACTION
  - The Lady Choctaws opened the match by winning all three doubles matches.
  - Kennedy Rodriguez and Julia McCarty won the #3 match by a score of 6-3.
  - Ely Alas and Fernanda Cota clinched the early point with a 6-4 win at #1.
  - Paulina Cota and Maria Rodriguez made it a clean sweep of doubles with a tie-break win at #2 (7-6 (7-4)).

SINGLES ACTION
  - The Lady Choctaws quickly won a pair of singles matches as Alas won #2 (6-1, 6-1) and Rodriguez won #4 (6-2, 6-4).
  - The Blazers made things interesting by taking points at #6 and #3 to cut the deficit to 3-2.
  - Kennedy Rodriguez clinched the match with a three-set win at #5 (7-5, 1-6, 6-4).
  - The final match was decided in three sets as Paulina Cota fell in a third-set tiebreak.
 

NEXT UP
  - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday (April 13) when they host Spring Hill at the MC Tennis Complex at 2:00 p.m.
