Lady Choctaws Roll to 9th Straight Win at West Alabama, 9-2

LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- The Mississippi College softball team collected their 9th straight victory in a 9-2 win over West Alabama on Tuesday afternoon at the UWA Softball Complex.

The Lady Choctaws (12-11) opened the non-conference scheduled doubleheader with a victory over the Tigers, while the second contest was canceled due to weather.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  - The Lady Choctaws scored in each of the first six innings, starting with Rayne Minor touching home on a double by McCall Lee in the 1st inning.
  - Jordan LaFosse doubled home Lee and MC took a 2-0 lead before UWA came to the plate.
  - The Tigers got a run back in their half of the 1st, but MC scored twice in the 2nd, including Minor scoring again, this time on a double from Brooke Fagan.
  - An RBI single by Gracie Trahan scored Annemarie Peavy in the 3rd inning and MC's lead would extend to 5-1.
  - The Tigers got another run in the 3rd, but Morgan Bradford drove in a pair of runs in the 4th to push the lead back out to 7-2.
  - Lee recorded another RBI double in the 5th, and Peavy's RBI double in the 6th gave the game its final score.

KEY STATS
  - The Lady Choctaws posted a season-high 13 hits in the victory, including four players notching multi-hit games.
  - Lee went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI and has now pushed her average on the season to .414.
  - Six of MC's hits went for doubles with two coming from Lee.
  - Carlson, Peavy and Trahan each had two hits in the contest, while Minor led the team with three runs scored.
  - Avery Sanders (8-8) tossed another complete game to get her 6th straight victory, allowing just two hits with five strikeouts.
  - Kacy Noland (5-6) took the loss for the Tigers, allowing three hits and three earned runs over 1.2 innings.

NEXT UP
  - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action next Tuesday (April 6) with a doubleheader at Miles (2:00 pm).
