Strong Second Half Sends Lady Choctaws to GSC Semifinals

MERIDIAN, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team scored three second-half goals to get a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over UAH and advance to the GSC Spring Championship Series Tournament semifinals.

The Lady Choctaws (6-0, 5-0 GSC) will now host West Alabama with a time, date and location to be determined. The Chargers (4-4-1, 2-3 GSC) finished their GSC SCS campaign.

The match was played at Meridian Community College because of a rule that teams more than 280 miles apart should find neutral site options in the GSC SCS Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  - The Chargers controlled the run of play in the early minutes and took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute as Carmen Endicott scored on a corner kick from Devyn Thompson.
  - MC would start to grab some possession and have their chances but went into the halftime break down 1-0.
  - The Lady Choctaws dominated the second half, taking 17 shots with 11 on goal.
  - Emily McNair scored the game-tying goal in the 51st minute after a beautiful assist from Emma Young.
  - The eventual game-winner was scored by Erin Hederman in the 67th minute as she buried a shot in the back of the net on an assist from Beatrice Currie.
  - The two traded roles in the 81st minute as Currie put the game away with a score on a helper from Erin Hederman.

KEY STATS
  - MC would outshoot UAH 26-6, including putting 15 shots on goal with just three by the opponent.
  - Currie had a team-high seven shots with five on goal, while four other Lady Choctaws had at least three shots in the match.
  - Sara Maleski got the win in goal, making a save and allowing just the one goal.

NEXT UP
  - The Lady Choctaws will advance to the GSC SCS Tournament semifinals and play them at a time, date and location to be determined.
