Lady Choctaws Roll to 2-0 Win Over Union (TN)

JACKSON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team cruised to a 2-0 win over Union University on Sunday afternoon at The Brickyard on the campus of Jackson Academy.

The Lady Choctaws improved to 3-0 in the Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series, while the Bulldogs fell to 0-2 in the shortened season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  - The Lady Choctaws dominated possession the entire 90 minutes, despite the tight two-goal advantage.
  - The game-winning goal came in the 22nd minute as Erin Hederman found the back of the net on an assist from twin sister, Avery Hederman.
  - She would extend the lead with another goal in the 37th minute, giving her nine total goals scored in her career.
  - The Lady Choctaws would have several more chances in the 2nd half but just missed opportunities to blow the match open.

KEY STATS
  - The Lady Choctaws recorded 25 total shots with seven coming on goal.
  - They allowed just one shot on goal from the Bulldogs in the match.
  - Ebba Elweroth pitched her second straight shutout, making one save in net for the Lady Choctaws.
  - Erin Hederman led the way with seven shots and three on goal, while Beatrice Currie and Avery Hederman had four shots apiece.
  - Rylee Iorio made three saves for the Bulldogs in the first half, while Anna Venckus made a save in the second half.

NOTES
  - The Lady Choctaws have now won 16 consecutive matches in Gulf South Conference regular season play.
  - The last loss came on October 25, 2018 in a 1-0 loss to West Florida.

NEXT UP
  - The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 5) as they will host West Alabama at 1:00 p.m.
