HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mississippi College took control of the match with a pair of commanding, first two sets. The Choctaws jumped out to an early 12-4 lead in the opener and quickly expanded its margin to 17-5. The Owls closed the gap to within 10 points, but the Navy and Gold closed out the first set scoring seven of the final nine points.
- Like the opening-set, MC quickly jumped out to a 6-1 advantage and swelled its advantage to 15-4. MUW broke serve, but the Choctaws replied with an 8-0 run to help claim the 18-point win in the second set.
- A tight contest in the third, MUW took its first lead of the match at 14-13. The Owls wouldn't relinquish the lead until the Choctaws tied the contest at 25-all. A Boros service ace placed the Navy and Gold up 26-25 and the Pompano Beach, Fla., native closed out the set with a kill following an assist from Drain.
