Choctaws Drop Season Opener to Alcorn State, 5-2

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team opened the 2021 season with a 5-2 loss to Division I Alcorn State on Wednesday afternoon at the MC Tennis Complex.

The Choctaws (0-1) dropped the doubles point, but Brady McDaniel and Joe Jarvis teamed up for a 7-5 win at the #3 position.

In singles play, MC got a win at #4 as Shane Samyn picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kareem Bowe. Carlos Trujillo also gave the Choctaws a point at #6 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Santiago Rocca.

The Braves, however, were able to get straight-set wins at all other singles spots to grab the victory.

The Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action next Tuesday when they travel to Cleveland to face #19 Delta State.
 

Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and began competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
