Both Hedermans Score in 2-1 Win Over UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team opened the 2021 Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series with a 2-1 win over UAH on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park.

The Lady Choctaws (1-0, 1-0 GSC) outshot the Chargers (1-1, 0-1 GSC) by a count of 24-8 in the victory.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  - The game was scoreless through the first 32 minutes before Avery Hederman got the scoring going in the 33rd minute to give MC the 1-0 lead.
  - The Lady Choctaws would take the 1-0 lead into the halftime break, outshooting the Chargers 12-2 in the opening 45 minutes.
  - Erin Hederman pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute, doubling the lead on an assist from Emily McNair.
  - The Chargers were able to put a little suspense into the match as Carmen Endicott scored in the 88th minute to cut the lead to 2-1.
  - MC was able to hold on to get the win to open the SCS.

KEY STATS
  - The Lady Choctaws finished with 24 shots to just eight for the Chargers.
  - MC had 14 shots on goal, led by six from Erin Hederman and three from Lindsey Stephenson.
  - Sara Maleski picked up the win in goal, making two saves over 73 minutes.
  - Adriana Wright allowed two goals and made 11 saves to take the loss for UAH.

NEXT UP
  - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action on Wednesday night when they will face Christian Brothers in a home match.
  - The time and location of the match is yet to be determined.
