CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College Choctaws fell to the undefeated and fifth-ranked Talladega by a final score of 63-56 at A.E. Wood Coliseum on Tuesday evening.
The Choctaws had a slow start to begin the game by managing one free throw by Zach Jones at four minutes into the game. The Tornadoes managed a few three-pointers which forced the Choctaws to call a timeout, trailing 14-4.
With 13:02 remaining, the deficit was cut to 6 points with back-to-back threes from Tradavis Thompson and Miles Miller.
Utilizing a 13-0 run at the 9:16 mark in the first half, Mississippi College took it's first lead of the contest 17-16.
Pressure by the Choctaws forced several turnovers and offensive fouls by the Tornadoes as the first half winded down with Choctaws trailing 32-30 at the half.
The second half started with a 6-0 run by the Choctaws but the Tornadoes retook the lead 47-40 with just under 15 minutes remaining.
Tradavis Thompson knocked down a three-pointer to cut the deficit to four as the Choctaws continued to apply the defensive pressure.
The Tornadoes took a close 56-50 lead with. six minutes left but a quick Thompson three pointer cut the lead back down to 56-50.
Talladega closed out the game defeating Mississippi College by a final score of 63-56, as MC ultimately fell to 3-5 overall on the season.
The Tornadoes outrebounded the Choctaws 35-22 despite the Tornadoes committing 9 more turnovers. Tradavis Thompson led the Choctaws in points finishing with 18 points and a team best four steals.
Mississippi College returns to action on Sunday with a road matchup at Montevallo beginning at 2 p.m.
