PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College volleyball teams' impressive run through the Gulf South Conference Championships came to end in the tournament semifinals as the Choctaws fell in four sets to host and top-seeded, nationally ranked University of West Florida.

Lexi Richards,
Lydia Paulette and
Sloane FitzHenry each had eight kills to lead the Navy and Gold.
Lexie Laurendine dished out 33 assists to pace the squad.

Defensively,
Stevie Nesbit led the way at the net with five total blocks while Richards added four along with 10 digs. Laurendine joined Richards in the dig department with 10 as well.

The Choctaws fell behind as they dropped the first two sets, but rallied to extend the contest winning the third, 25-22. A see-saw affair throughout, MC tied the contest at 18-all on a kill from Richards. The tip spurred an 8-4 run to close out the set. Nesbit and FitzHenry along with Richards posted kills during the run.

West Florida took an early lead in the fourth set as it jumped out to an 8-2 lead. The Argos kept the pressure on throughout the match-clinching set. The Blue and Green ended the contest scoring the final five points.

Madi Cooler led the Argonauts with 15 kills while Taylor Vaneekeren paced UWF with 33 digs, 19 digs and three service aces.

Mississippi College knocked off Auburn University at Montgomery and Shorter University in its two matches on Friday, Nov. 19 to advance to the conference semis for the first time in program history. West Florida advances to the GSC Championship Game on Sunday, Nov. 21 against University of Montevallo.

Mississippi College wrapped up the season with a 10-16 record and 6-9 in conference play.
