CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball sets its sights on some hardware this weekend as it heads to the Gulf South Conference Championships in Pensacola, Fla., and the campus of the University of West Florida. MC opens the tournament on Friday, Nov. 19 against Auburn University at Montgomery.

Mississippi College fans joining the Choctaws in Pensacola, can purchase tickets here. GSC Tournament shirts will also be on site. Fans can purchase them with cash or check.

You can also follow the action from the Sunshine State on the web. FloSports will live stream the tournament from the UWF Field House via subscription. Fans can also follow along via live stats. Visit GSC Tournament Central for all the links.

MC grabbed the eighth seed in the GSC Championships. It marks the first back-to-back, GSC Tournament berths since the 1993-94 campaigns. The Choctaws made the 2019 GSC Tournament field as the eight seed.

The Choctaws hold a 4-2 record against AUM in series history, including the last two outings. MC defeated the Warhawks in five sets earlier this season in Montgomery. Friday marks the first postseason meeting between the two institutions.

The Navy and Gold made its first appearance in the Championships, since returning to Division II and the GSC, in 2019. MC's last appearance prior to the '19 campaign was 1994, it went 1-2 in that appearance.

Along with the postseason berth, Mississippi College's Lexie Laurendine added to her list of accomplishments as she was named to the All-GSC Team. Laurendine becomes the first Mississippi College volleyball player to be named back-to-back, All-GSC in over three-plus decades. She joins Dawn Edwards who accomplished the feat by becoming a three-time all-conference selection from 1986 through 1988.

The junior became the career, assists leader at MC earlier this season with 2,051. Laurendine ranks in the top 10 in the conference in assists and assists per set this season. She ranks seventh in the GSC in assists per set (7.84) and ninth in total assists (666). She recorded 54 assists, a program, single-match record earlier this season, which still ranks fifth in the conference and added a 53-assist performance at UAH on Nov. 12.

Fellow junior Kendall Platt also reset the program record book as she became the school's all-time kills leader. The Anaheim, Calif., native has registered 990 kills in her time in Clinton. She started the season ranked fourth on the career kills list. Platt's recorded 255 kills this season, which ranks 14th in the conference. She ranks in the top 15 in the league in kills per set (10th), total aces (16th) and aces per set (12th).

First serve from the UWF Field House is scheduled for 11 a.m.
