TUSKEGEE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball dropped a 63-45 contest at Tuskegee University on Saturday, Nov. 13. MC moved to 1-1 on the season while the Golden Tigers, who received votes in the WBCA Top 25 Preseason Poll, improved to 2-0.

The meeting was the first in series history between the two programs.

For the second consecutive game this season a freshman led the Choctaws in scoring as
Ally Alford posted a team-best 11 points in the setback.
KB Bradley joined the Batesville, Miss., native in double figures as she tabbed in 10 points. A trio of Choctaws tied for tops on the team on the glass as
Amelia Bell,
Kyiah Julian and
Tamarah Sykes had five boards apiece.

After taking a 26-24 lead in at the break, the Navy and Gold saw TU outscore them 22-7 in the third stanza and take control of the contest. MC grabbed its largest lead of the game, 19-13, in the second period as Julian drained her only 3-pointer in the game with 4:45 left in the opening half.

The Golden Tigers chipped away and the cut margin to within a point before Alford knocked down a try to push the lead back out to four points before taking a two-point lead at the half.

MC help the advantage until the halfway point of the third quarter when a pair of JuToreyia Willis free throws placed TU up 35-33 and they never looked back the remainder of the way. The Maroon and Gold marched out to a double-digit lead with under a minute to play in the third and grabbed its largest lead of the game, 59-41, with 2:12 left to play on a 3-pointer from Philli King.

Ashiala Jackson paced TU with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 16 as it opens the home slate against in-state foe Tougaloo College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

Amelia Bell as two freshmen who have led the Choctaws in scoring in the first two games of the season. Bell posted 12 in the season opener vs. LeMoyne-Owen College on Friday, Nov. 12.
