The Mississippi College men's soccer team dominated Union University 6-0 on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 24). MC improved to 8-4-1 overall (5-2-1 GSC) on the year and have now won 5 straight matches. Union falls to 6-5-3 overall (3-5-2 GSC) on the year.
Joshua Davies got the goal scoring in the 26th minute as a ball from a corner fell to Davies' feet who then slotted it home.
Gonzalo Carrasco got the assist which marks his 3rd of the year.
Aurele Chemin doubled the lead in the 35th minute as he cut in between 2 defenders and then expertly beat the keeper into the far side of the net. The goal marked Chemin's 2nd of the season.
Soane Deminguet Folituu had the assist.
Folituu then got in on the goal scoring action right before the half in the 43rd minute as he scored off assists from
Olaf Conforti and
Zach Diallo.Â
MC would lead 3-0 at the half and had a commanding 10-1 edge in shots.Â
Folituu then added another goal just 25 seconds into the 2nd half to pick up a brace for the game for him and to put MC up 4-0. The goals marked Folituu's 2nd and 3rd of the season respectively.Â
Santi Diosa picked up the assist, his 2nd of the year.
Davies added his 2nd goal of the contest in the 52nd minute to make it 5-0. The two goals on the afternoon were Davies' first two of the year.
Antoine Recizac picked up his 3rd assist of the season on the goal.
Aaron Martin picked up the final goal to make it 6-0 in the 75th minute on a breakaway. Folittuu picked up the assist. The 2 assist game gives Folituu a team leading 4 on the year.
Overall, the Choctaws had a 26-2 edge in shots and a 14-0 edge in shots on goal.
Guilherme Santos led the way with 7 shots and also had a team leading 4 shots on goal.
Alejandro Chavarria played 79 minutes in goal, but was not forced into a save.
Jesus Hernandez also played the final 11 minutes in the net.
Next up, MC will be back at home next weekend against Spring Hill on Friday afternoon (Oct. 29) and then West Florida on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 31). Both games are scheduled for 3:00 pm at Longabaugh Field.
