The Mississippi College women's soccer team topped Christian Brothers 2-0 on Friday evening (Oct. 22). MC improved to 9-3 (7-2 GSC) as they picked up their 3rd straight win. CBU fell to 8-5-1 (6-3-1 GSC).
Holly Pascoe started the game off quickly for the Lady Choctaws as she scored in the 4th minute from the edge of the box off an assist from
Avery Hederman. The goal was Pascoe's 5th of the season.
Dani Avelar then doubled MC's lead in the 31st minute as she scored off of a corner from
Avery Hederman. The goal marked Avelar's 4th of the season. The two assists on the evening gave Hederman her 3rd and 4th of the season which puts her tied for the team lead.
MC would take that 2-0 lead into halftime. MC was leading CBU 10-3 in total shots at the half.
It was a mostly quiet 2nd half as each only took1 shot in the final 45 with the Lady Choctaws seeing out the 2-0 victory in their first match in nearly 2 weeks.
Overall, MC outshot CBU 11-4 and had a 4-1 edge in shots on goal. Pascoe led the way for MC with 3 shots (both were on goal to also lead the team) while
Beatrice Currie and
Emily McNair both also added 2 shots.Â
Sara Maleski made a save in goal as she picked up the clean sheet shutout.Â
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 24) as they play Union University on the road at 1:00 pm.
