MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team snapped a three-match skid as it defeated Auburn University at Montgomery in five sets on Saturday, Oct. 2. MC improved to 4-6 on the season and 2-3 in Gulf South Conference action. The Warhawks fell to 10-7 on the year and 2-2 in league play.

The win gave the Navy and Gold its second straight in the series and its first win on AUM's home floor. MC leads the series 4-2.

Kendall Platt led a trio of Choctaws with double figure kills. The Anaheim, Calif., native tallied 17 in the five-setter.
Lydia Paulette reset her season-high as she compiled 13 kills while
Lexi Richards supplied 10 on the day.
Lexie Laurendine dished out a team-best 33 assists to direct the offensive attack.
Levi Lennard added 11 assists.

Defensively,
Stevie Nesbit recorded a career-high five total blocks in the contest. The Madison, Miss., native also reset her career-best with four solo rejections in the match as she defended the frontline.
Missy Beber chimed in a team-leader 20 digs while Laurendine joined with 14.

Trailing 2-1 after the first three sets, MC knotted the match at 2-2 with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set. In a game that saw seven ties, the Choctaws took control of the set, 18-15, with three straight points, including back-to-back kills from Paulette. AUM cut the lead to 20-18, but the Navy and Gold closed out the set on a 5-1 run.

Much like the prior set, the decider showcased multiple deadlocks early, with the last coming at 7-7, before MC closed out the contest on an 8-1 run. Five different Choctaws notched a kill down the stretch while Beber and
Erin Davis each provided a service ace to ice the contest.

Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 5 as it hosts the University of West Alabama in GSC action. First serve against the Tigers is set for 6 p.m.
Notes
- Nesbit's previous career-high for total blocks was four – last matched earlier this season on Sept. 17 at Ouachita Baptist. Her prior record for solo blocks came on March 3, 2021 at West Alabama.
- With her 13 kills, Paulette surpassed her previous season-high of 12 kills, which she accomplished twice this season vs. Arkansas-Monticello (Sept. 17) and at Henderson State (Sept. 18).
- Tuesday's match against West Alabama is the second meeting this season. MC won in four sets on the Tigers' home floor to open GSC play.
