CARROLLTON, Ga. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a four-set match at the University of West Georgia on Tuesday, Oct. 19. MC moves to 5-8 on the campaign and 3-5 in the Gulf South Conference. UWG improved to 11-9 and 5-5 in the conference.

Kendall Platt led the Choctaws offensively with 11 kills while
Lexie Laurendine posted 18 assists to direct the offensive attack.
Levi Lennard added 13 dimes.

Sloane FitzHenry notched six blocks in the contest as the Navy and Gold bolstered nine total team rejections.
Lexi Richards chimed in three blocks in the contest.
Missy Beber recorded a team-leading 25 digs to go along with three service aces while Laurendine added 12 digs.

Falling behind after the first set, MC rallied to knot the match at a set apiece in the second. West Georgia rode the momentum of the opener to grab a 5-0 lead early in the game, but the Navy and Gold rallied to tie the contest at 11-all midway through. The Wolves once again extended the lead and held a 24-23 advantage late in the set, but MC used miscues to claim the final three points.

After the Red and Blue gripped a 2-1 lead following the intermission, MC looked to send the match to a deciding set in the fourth as it grabbed a pair of six-point margins in the contest. UWG used an 8-0 run to take a 22-20 lead. The two teams stood deadlocked three times down the stretch with the last coming at 24-all on a
Lexi Richards' kill, however, the Wolves closed out the contest with the final two points to clinch the match. Â Â

Mississippi College returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 20 as it travels to Valdosta State University. First serve is set for 5 p.m. central.
