Boston Notches 1,000th Career Point in Loss at West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- Mississippi College graduate student Brandon Boston became the 19th player in program history to score over 1,000 points as the Pearl native put up 27 in a loss at West Alabama on Wednesday night.

Boston went 12-of-19 from the floor and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, but the Tigers (2-0) pulled away late for the 67-49 victory.

The Choctaws (0-4) are scheduled to be back in action on Friday, January 22nd when they play their first home game of the season against Union in A.E. Wood Coliseum (6:30 p.m.)
 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  - Boston came out hot in the opening 20 minutes, scoring 12 points in just over 12 minutes and cutting the Tiger lead to 16-14 with 7:52 on a jumper.
  - The jumper gave Brandon 999 career points heading to the halftime break as UWA would take a 25-20 lead into the intermission.
  - In the second half, the bucket that put Boston over the milestone mark came with 17:54 to go and made the score 31-26.
  - The former Pearl HS standout would keep the Choctaws in the game and his three-point play made the score 37-35 with 13:28 to go.
  - The Tigers, however, would answer with a 9-2 run and would eventually pull away for the victory to improve to 2-0 on the season.
 

KEY STATS / NOTES
  - Boston was the only Choctaw to score in double-figures on the night.
  - He becomes just the 19th player in school history to score 1,000 points and first since Tyler Winford (2004-08).
  - Boston and Winford are the only two players to notch the milestone in this century of Choctaw basketball.
  - The Choctaws shot just 20-of-49 (41%) from the floor, while the Tigers were 26-of-52 (50%).
  - UWA also outrebounded the Choctaws 37-25 on the night and held MC to 0-for-7 from the three-point line.
  - Four different Tigers scored in double-figures, led by Roger Davis with 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting.
  - Shardarrion Allen had 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
 

NEXT UP
  - The Choctaws are scheduled to play their first home game of the season on Friday, January 22nd when they host Union (6:30 p.m.).
