ROME, Ga. --- The Mississippi College softball team rolled to a Sunday sweep of Shorter, extending their winning streak to a season-high five games, at Alto Park.
The Lady Choctaws (15-7, 6-3 GSC) opened the day with a 6-0 victory and took down the Hawks (2-13, 1-8 GSC) in the series finale 12-3 to pick up the three-game sweep.

GAME ONE: MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 6, SHORTER 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
 - Sophomore Baylee Freundenberg, who hit three home runs on Saturday, put the opening game away in the 1st inning with a grand slam.
 - It was the first grand slam for a Lady Choctaw since
Morgan Bradford and
Annemarie Peavy each hit one against Christian Brothers last season.

Rayne Minor in the 2nd tacked on a run to push the lead to 5-0.
 - The final run of the game game in the 6th when
Ashley Elsensohn singled home Bradford to give the game a score of 6-0.
KEY STATS
 - It was the sixth straight game the Lady Choctaws have shut out Shorter, sweeping the series without allowing a run last season and sweeping Saturday's game, 7-0.
 - Freshman
Avery Barnett (7-2) tossed the shutout, giving up just three hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
 - Minor,
Shayla McKissock and Freudendberg each had multi-hit games, while Bradford drove in a pair of runs.
 - Freudenberg led the way with four RBI on the first-inning grand slam.
 - Courtney Pinkston (1-5) took the loss for the Hawks, giving up 11 hits and six earned runs with six strikeouts and six walks over 7.0 innings.
 - Sydney Poston had a team-high two hits for Shorter.

GAME TWO: MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 12, SHORTER 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Lady Choctaw offense wasted no time getting after the series sweep with three runs in the opening inning.
 -
Carly Crawford drove in a run with a groundout and Peavy brought home a pair of runs with a single.
 - The Hawks grabbed their first run against MC since 2018 in the 1st inning, but MC responded with five in the top of the 2nd.
 - Four different run-scoring hits drove in the five runs, highlighted by an RBI double from
Jordan LaFosse and a two-run single by
Kendal Daniels.
 - The Lady Choctaws would push across four more runs in the 4th as Peavy singled home another run and
Gracie Trahan brought home a run with a sac fly.
 - The Hawks were able to score a couple in the 5th, but MC held on for the 12-3, run-rule victory.
KEY STATS
 - The 13 hits and the 12 runs were tied for the second-most in a single game for the Lady Choctaws this season.
 - Four Lady Choctaws tallied multi-hit games with Peavy and LaFosse leading the way with three apiece.
 - Minor, McKissock, Peavy and LaFossee each scored twice, while Peavy drove in a team-high three runs.

Hannah Creel (6-4) grabbed her second win of the weekend, giving up three hits and an earned run over 3.0 innings.
 -
Avery Sanders pitched the final two innings, giving up no hits over the final six outs.
 - Paytn Cripps led the Shorter offense with a hit and a pair of runs scored.
 - Shellby Young (1-7) took the loss for the Hawks, giving up 11 hits and and seven earned runs over 1.2 innings.

 - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to travel to Arkansas to face Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday for a doubleheader at 3:00 p.m.
 - MC is set to travel to Carrollton, Ga. to face West Georgia in a three-game GSC series next weekend.
