CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team opened Gulf South Conference play with a 6-1 win over West Georgia on Saturday afternoon at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Lady Choctaws improved to 2-3 on the year, while the Wolves fell to 3-2 with an 0-2 GSC record.

DOUBLES ACTION
 - The #2 team of
Paulina Cota and
Alisa Morozova got the first win for MC with a 6-1 victory.
 - Ely Alas and
Kennedy Rodriguez clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory at #3 position.

Aneta Golawska and
Tori Roberts picked up the clean sweep of doubles play with a 6-3 win at #1.

SINGLES ACTION
 - Rodriguez gave MC a 2-0 lead with a straight-set win at #6 position (6-3, 6-0).
 - Golawska put the Lady Choctaws ahead 3-0 with a win at #3 that saw her opponent retire.
 - Alas had a straight-set victory at #4 (6-0, 6-4) in her first match for the Lady Choctaws this season.
 - Cota won the clinching point at #2 with a 7-6 (9-7), 6-0 win at #2.
 - The final two matches were split with
Carmen Manicea taking a three-set match at #5.

 - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action on Wednesday (March 4) to play at Jackson State at 2:00 p.m.
