MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College softball team traveled south for a doubleheader with Spring Hill College and came away with a split on Saturday afternoon at Murray Field.
The Lady Choctaws (7-5) opened the day with a 4-2 win in extra innings, while the Badgers (2-7) bounced back with a 2-1 win in the second game.

GAME ONE: MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 4, SPRING HILL 2 (8 INNINGS)
HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Badgers got on the board in the 1st inning, putting together back-to-back two-out hits to grab a 1-0 lead.
 - The game remained with a 1-0 score until the 6th when
Ashley Elsensohn tripled to lead off the inning and came home to score on a double-steal.
 - The Lady Choctaws took their first lead of the day as
Hayden Claypool drove in LaFosse with a sac fly to make the score 2-1.
 - Morgan Kramer extended the game with a solo home run in the 7th inning, sending the game into extra innings.
 - The eventual game-winning run scored in the 8th as
Jordan LaFosse doubled home Elsensohn to make the score 3-2.

Rayne Minor brought LaFosse home with a single to extend the lead to 4-2.
 -
Avery Barnett (4-1) retired the side in order in the bottom of the inning to clinch the twin-bill opening win.
KEY STATS
 - Barnett allowed just five hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts and a walk over the complete game effort.
 - Hannah Brenton (0-6) took the loss for SHC, pitching around eight hits and six walks over 8.0 innings.
 - Minor and Claypool led the way with two hits apiece, while
Kendal Daniels drew a pair of walks.
 - Elsensohn and LaFosse each scored twice for MC.
 - Delaney Thomas led the Badgers with two hits and a run scored.

GAME TWO: SPRING HILL 2, MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The second game had three scoreless innings until the Lady Choctaws grabbed a lead in the 4th inning.
 - LaFosse came up big again for MC with an RBI single to score
Grace Hahn and take a 1-0 lead.
 - The Badgers broke through with a pair of runs in the 5th inning to give the game its final score.
 - The Lady Choctaws were retired in order over the final two innings as SHC picked up the doubleheader split.
KEY STATS
 -
Hannah Creel (2-3) took the loss for MC, giving up six hits and two earned runs with five strikeouts over 6.0 innings.
 - Olivia Brown (1-1) picked up the win, giving up five hits with one run and three strikeouts over the complete game effort.
 - Five different Lady Choctaws tallied hits in the second game.
 - Addison Grundmeyer led the Badgers with a pair of hits and a run scored.

 - The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back at home on Wednesday to host Miles College for a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. at the MC Softball Complex.
