CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team dropped a 64-49 contest to the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Saturday, Dec. 12 inside A.E. Wood Coliseum. The setback evened both teams records at 1-1 on the campaign and in the Gulf South Conference.

For the second straight night,
Jay Levy led the Lady Choctaws in scoring as she provided 15 points.
Rivers Futral and
Moriah Hurst added nine points each. Hurst posted her second-consecutive night with double figure rebounds with 12.

MC shot just 27.6 percent from the field and compiled a clip of 80.0 from the charity stripe. The Navy and Gold grabbed 39 boards during the contest.

UAH was paced by Alexis Woods' double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Holly Harris added 15 points with 11 coming from Selena Pruitt. Sloan Mann rounded out the quartet of double-digit scorers with 10 points.

The Chargers connected on 40.0 percent from the field and shot 81.8 percent from the free throw line. The squad also grabbed 46 rebounds as a team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the second straight evening, Mississippi College held the advantage after the first 10 minutes. MC scored the final four points of the quarter behind a pair of free throws and a layup from Levy and took a 19-16 lead into the second quarter.
- UAH regained the lead in the second quarter on a layup from Harris with 8:08 left and held much of the advantage through the quarter, including a 32-25 lead at the intermission. MC did force a 23-all tie with 4:32 left in the half following a pair of
Alana Canady free throws.
- The Chargers grabbed the first double-digit lead of the game in third quarter as Woods scored on a layup with 7:16 left in the quarter. MC clipped the deficit to under double figures once during the 10-minute period, but the Blue and White held an 18-point lead with under a minute to play in the quarter.
- UAH grabbed its largest lead of the game, 60-40, with 4:29 left to play on a layup from Sloan Mann. MC went on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 11 points with 3:17 left in the game, but couldn't overcome to margin as the Chargers grabbed the final four points of the contest.
KEY STATS
- Both teams struggled from behind the arc in the contest. UAH shot just 17.6 percent while the Lady Choctaws had a clip of 25.0.
- UAH picked up 44 of its 64 points in the paint and outscored MC by 24 in the category.
- MC picked up good productivity from its bench as the reserves notched 13 points compared to 3 for UAH.
- UAH held the lead for over 31 minutes in the game. The contest saw just five lead changes and four deadlocks. MC held the advantage for seven minutes.
- Hurst missed her second double-double of the season and sixth career.
