ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a pair of contests on the final day of the Reddie-Tiger Invitational. MC took No. 20 Texas A&M University-Commerce to four sets after falling in straight sets to the University of Texas at Tyler earlier in the day.

After A&M-Commerce took the opening set 25-13, the Choctaws battled back to knot the contest at 1-all with a 25-20, second set victory. The two squads went back and forth in the third, but the Lions eventually escaped with a 26-24 victory to take a 2-1 lead. TAMUC closed out the match with a 25-13 win in the fourth set.

For the fourth straight match, sophomore
Jamie Boros led the Navy and Gold in kills with 15. Fellow sophomore
Kendall Platt joined Boros in double figure kills with 10.
Lexie Laurendine paced the squad with 24 assists while
Ingrid Savola dished out 15 in the match.

Julia Martin led the defensive effort with 15 digs while Platt,
Autumn Frost and
Kate Bass each totaled a pair of blocks.

In the opening match of the day, UT-Tyler claimed the opening two sets by the scores 25-14 and 25-20. The Navy and Gold trailed in the third set, but battled back to knot the contest twice down the stretch, with the last coming at 21-all, but the Patriots closed out the set with a 4-1 run.

Boros led the Choctaws in kills with 11 while Savola and Laurendine each recorded double-digit assists with 13 and 12 respectively. Martin totaled a team-best nine digs while the trio of
Hannah Rue, Frost and Bass each notched a team-best two blocks.

Mississippi College opens its home slate on Tuesday, Sept. 10 against Loyola (La.) University. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
