ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team opened the season as it split its two contests at the Reddie-Tiger Invitational on Friday, Sept. 6. The Choctaws (1-1) claimed a 3-1 win at Ouachita Baptist to close out the day. MC fell 3-1 at Henderson State to open the day.

Sophomore
Jamie Boros led the Navy and Gold in kills in each of the two matches. Boros tallied 15 kills in the four sets at HSU and followed with 12 in the four-setter at OBU. Fellow sophomore
Lexie Laurendine joined Boros in double figures with 10 in the victory over the Tigers.

Senior
Julia Martin totaled a combined 29 digs on the day. Laurendine added 13 digs in the match with the Reddies. Freshman
Kate Bass combined for 10 total blocks in the two matches, including a season-high six at OBU.

Mississippi College took an early 2-0 lead in the match at OBU as it controlled the first set 25-13 and rallied for a 25-22 victory in the second set. The Tigers avoided the sweep with a 25-15 victory in the third set. The two squads battled back and forth in the fourth set as the Navy and Gold rallied back garner the match-clincher 25-23. The Choctaws claimed the first set at Henderson State, 25-18, but witnessed the Reddies take the following three sets 25-15, 25-17 and 25-17.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 7 as it faces the University of Texas at Tyler at 11 a.m. and closes out the weekend at 4 p.m. against No. 20 Texas A&M University-Commerce. Both matches are slated for Duke Wells Center on the campus of Henderson State.
