CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team picked up their first victory of the 2019 season and improved to 1-0 in Gulf South Conference play on Valentine's Day against Shorter University. The final score of the match was 7-0 in favor of MC. The Lady Choctaws will improve to 1-1 on the year and the Hawks will fall to 2-3.
The clean sweep for the Lady Choctaws started in doubles action, when the team of
Paulina Cota and
Nicole Bueno picked up a 6-1 victory. MC secured the doubles point thanks to the 6-1 victory from the team of
Aneta Golawska and
Alisa Morozova.
In singles Bueno, Cota and Golawska all rolled to straight set victories.
RebeccaGrace Kimball won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Jillianne Craft won her match in straight sets, and to complete the sweep, Morozova won her match in a super tiebreaker 6-7 (3), 6-1, and 10-6 in the super tiebreaker set.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action next Wednesday Feb 20 when they travel to Lorman, MS to face Alcorn State. That match is currently scheduled for a 2:00 P.M. start time.
