Women's Tennis Falls in Season Opener

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team suffered an opening night loss to NCAA Division I opponent Jackson State University with a final match score of 2-4 in favor of the Tigers. With the loss the Lady Choctaws will fall to 0-1 and the Tigers will improve to 2-7.

In doubles action, the duo of Alisa Morova and Aneta Golawska were able to pick up their first match win of the season. Due to the Division II doubles rule change, this win didn't affect the final score since the Tigers took the other two doubles matches to secure the point.

In singles, Nicole Bueno cruised in her victory and Paulina Cota looked solid in her winning performance. Julia McCarty had to retire from her match this afternoon which ended up being the winning point for Jackson State giving the match its final of 2-4.

The Lady Choctaws will return to action on Thursday Feb. 14 when they host Gulf South Conference Shorter at the MC Tennis Complex. Match time is set for 2:00 P.M.
