Choctaws Fall at Christian Brothers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team dropped a 68-35 decision at Christian Brothers University on Sunday, Dec. 15. MC moves to 5-4 on the season and 1-2 in Gulf South Conference action as CBU improved to 5-5 and 2-2 in the league.
 
Winford Ross led the Choctaws in scoring with 13 points. Zach Jones paced MC with seven rebounds followed by Jacob Taylor with six in the contest. MC shot 25.0 percent from the field and was 6-for-12 from the free throw line.
 
Nick Deifel paced the Bucs in scoring with 15 points. CBU shot 50 percent from the floor, including a clip of 33.3 from behind the arc. The Red and Black was 10-of-16 from the charity stripe.

HOW IT HAPPENED
>> CBU opened the contest on a 25-5 run and took a 36-14 lead in at the intermission. The Bucs closed out the first 20 minutes of play on a 9-2 run.
>> MC cut the deficit under 20 points with 13 minutes left to play on a Ross free throw, but CBU's Brad Miller hit a 3-pointer 45 seconds late to place the Red and Black up 22 points.
>> The Bucs grabbed their largest lead of the game, 68-33, with just over a minute to play on an Aiden Ruthsatz jumper.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
>> CBU leads the series 11-5.
>> It's the sixth time this season Ross has scored in double figures and the first since he scored 18 points at Montevallo on Nov. 25.
 
NEXT UP
Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 21 as it travels to Cleveland, Miss., to face in-state foe Delta State University. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
