Choctaws Record Season Sweep of West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team picked up its first win in Livingston, Ala., since 1994 as the Choctaws recorded a season sweep of the University of West Alabama on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
 
Kendall Platt and Lexie Laurendine each notched double-doubles while Jamie Boros recorded double-digit kills on the night. Platt and Boros turned in 11 kills each on the night. Laurendine led the team with 19 assists and 17 digs – both tops on the team while Platt chimed in 15 digs. Levi Lennard added 16 assists with 11 digs coming from Brandi Bundy.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mississippi College jumped out early to a 7-1 lead in the opener. West Alabama pulled to within 15-12. A Bass kill extended the advantage to 22-17 and MC claimed the set 25-20 on a Boros kill.
- The Choctaws used a 9-0 run midway through the second to take a 16-8 lead. A Jessica Akiona attack error helped the extend MC's lead to 20-12 en route to a 25-17 victory.
- A set that featured 18 ties, the Choctaws edged out a match-clinching set off back-to-back kills from Platt and Lexi Richards. 

INSIDE THE BOX
- Bass moved into fifth in single-season total blocks with 91 as she compiled four in the match.
- Laurendine notched her 15th career double-double and roster-best 10th of the season.
- Platt's double-double is the 17th of her career and 10th of the season - tied for tops on the team.
- Boros collected her team-best 20th match with double-digit kills and 35th of her career. 

NEXT UP
Mississippi College returns to Clinton, Miss., for the final home weekend of the season and a pair of GSC matches. The Choctaws open the weekend against Auburn-Montgomery on Friday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. MC closes out the slate on Saturday, Nov. 9 against West Florida and Senior Day. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
