Choctaws Fall at Henderson State, 74-60

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team dropped their first road game of the season, falling to Henderson State (74-60) on Friday night in the Duke Wells Center.

The Choctaws are now 2-2 on the season, while the Reddies improved to 2-1 on the year.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  - The Reddies used an early 13-0 run to sprint out to a 15-2 lead before even five minutes had been played.
  - The Choctaws cut the lead back down to six, but HSU improved the lead to as many as 16 before heading into halftime with a 40-27 lead.
  - In the second half, following a pair of free throws by sophomore Zach Jones, MC was able to cut the lead down to 58-50, but they could get no closer the rest of the way.
  - The Reddies would push the lead back out and hit a pair of free throws in the final seconds to secure the 14-point victory.
 

KEY STATS
  - The Choctaws struggled shooting from the floor, hitting just 24-of-64 (38%) from the field and 1-of-11 (9%) from the three-point line.
  - MC outscored the Reddies in the paint, 40-26, but HSU went 7-of-20 (35%) from the three-point line.
  - Junior Winceton Edwards led the Choctaws in scoring for the fourth straight game, putting up 15 on 5-of-12 shooting.
  - Junior Keevon Oney added a season-high 12 points and seven rebounds, leading the team in boards.
  - Junior Winford Ross also scored in double-figures with 11 points in the game.
  - Chris Parker led four Reddies in double-figures with 14 points and a team-high five assists.
 

GAME NOTES
  - The Choctaws are now 8-5 all-time against the Reddies, including a 78-73 win in Clinton last season.
 

NEXT UP
  - The Choctaws will open Gulf South Conference play next Saturday when they host West Alabama at 4:00 p.m. in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
