CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team advanced to the Gulf South Conference Tournament semifinals with a 1-0 victory over Union on Tuesday afternoon at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
The Choctaws (9-1-5) are in the tournament semifinals for the second time in three years, while the Bulldogs (8-8) were in the conference tournament for the first time in school history this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Choctaws scored the lone goal of the contest in the 27th minute when sopohomoreÂ
Guilherme Santos tallied this second goal of the season.
 - The goal came with assists from senior
Javier Avelar and junior
Abel Perez.
 - In the second half, MC controlled the action with 13 shots compared to just four shots allowed to the Bulldogs.

 - The Choctaws outshot Union 20-9 and had eight shots on goal compared to just two for the Bulldogs.
 - Junior
Alejandro Chavarria notched his 9th shutout of the season, making two saves for MC.
 - Euan Morton took the loss for the Bulldogs, giving up the one goal with six saves.

 - MC is now 2-0 against Union this season and 5-1-1 all-time against the Bulldogs.
 - This will be the second-ever trip for the Choctaws to the GSC Tournament semifinals as they were eliminated by UAH in 2017.
