CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team went on the road and upset #5 Lee University, 3-1, on Friday night at the Lee Soccer Field.
The Lady Choctaws, ranked #24 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, improved to 5-1 with a 3-0 Gulf South Conference mark, while the Flames fell to 5-2 and 1-1 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Lady Choctaws struck first in the battle of a pair of ranked teams as senior
Katie Taylor scored her 9th goal of the season in the 16th minute on an assist from freshman
Erin Hederman.
 - The tightly-contested match would go into halftime with MC leading 1-0 and the teams combining for just six shots and four shots on goal.
 - In the second half, the Lady Flames broke through in the 67th minute when Riley Henry tallied her second goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1.
 - The Lady Choctaws responded, however, as Hederman notched her third goal of the season in the 73rd minute, tallying the eventual game-winning score.
 - Senior
Emma Claire Furman put the icing on the cake in the 86th minute as she scored her first goal of the year to give the match its final score of 3-1.

KEY STATS
 - The Lady Choctaws outshot the highly-ranked Flames by a count of 10-8 with six shots coming on goal and only three for Lee.
 - Taylor led all players with four shots, whlie Furman and Hederman also had multiple shots with two apiece.

Gabby Kayser made two saves and allowed just the one goal, picking up her fifth win of the season between the pipes.
 - Taylor Green took the loss in net for the Flames, allowing three goals with three saves made.

MATCH NOTES
 - The Lady Choctaws are now 3-5-1 all-time against the Flames, picking up their second straight 3-1 regular season win over their opponents from Cleveland, Tenn.
 - It was the first-ever win for MC at Lee, snapping a four-match winless streak at Lee Soccer Field.
 - The win avenges a "Sweet Sixteen" loss to the Lady Flames last season when Lee erased an early 1-0 deficit and scored in overtime to advanced to the "Elite Eight."
