CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team pushed through an hour-long weather delay on their way to a 3-0 victory over Union University on Friday afternoon at Robert P. Longabaugh Field..
The delay forced the match to be called after 84 minutes played. NCAA rules mandate that a match complete at least 70 minutes to be considered official.
The Choctaws improved to 5-1-3 on the the season with a 4-0-1 Gulf South Conference record, while the Bulldogs dropped to 3-5 with a 1-4 league mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Choctaws scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 11th minute as junior
Marco Sellan scored his third goal of the season, getting an assist from junior
Antoine Recizac.
 - With 24:24 remaining in the first half and at 4:17 p.m., the match was halted due to lightning in the area.
 - The lightning delay carried over an hour and started back at 5:29 p.m.
 - The Choctaws wasted no time extending the lead to 2-0 as senior
Joshua Robinson scored his first of the season on an assist from junior
Abel Perez.
 - In the 38th minute, senior
Javier Avelar gave the game its final score with his first score of the season on an assist from Recizac.
 - After an abbreviated halftime, the match would remain scoreless the rest of the way, eventually being called due to darkness with just six minutes remaining.

 - The Choctaws outshot the Bulldogs by a count of 19-8, including putting five shots on goal.

Victor Bazan and sophomore Guilhereme Santos came off the bench and led MC with three shots apiece.

Alejandro Chavarria tallied his sixth shutout of the season, making five saves over the 84 minutes.
