JACKSON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team remained unbeaten in Gulf South Conference play this afternoon with a 3-0 victory over the Shorter University Hawks, the match was played at Belhaven University due to poor weather conditions.
The Lady Choctaws will improve to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in GSC play.
The Lady Hawks will fall to 1-8 overall and 0-4 in GSC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Choctaw offense struck quickly with the first goal of the match coming from the foot of
Emma Claire Furman on a deflected ball that she was able to strike into the back of the net in the second minute of play.
- MC was able to add to their lead in the 16th minute when
Scarlett Hodges had a beautiful cross find
Jess Davenport in the box, who was able put it in to extend the Lady Choctaw lead to 2-0. Â
- The Lady Choctaws iced the match in the 50th when
Rita Okoro was able to find Furman who netted her second goal of the day and gave MC a 3-0 lead which would hold as the final score.

Andrea McDonald got her first start in goal this season for the Lady Choctaws. The pre-season all-conference goalie recorded a shutout in her first outing and extended the team's shutout streak to five matches.

Jess Davenport scored another goal in the match to increase her total to four goals on the year which leads the team.

Emma Claire Furman has emerged as an offensive playmaker in the last two outings, scoring the lone goal in MC's win over Delta State last Friday and scoring two goals this afternoon against Shorter.

- The Lady Choctaws will be back in GSC play this Sunday, September 30 against Lee University. The match is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and is currently scheduled to take place at Robert P. Longabaugh but could be subject to change due to weather. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
