HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team moved to 2-0 in Gulf South Conference play with a 3-0 victory over the Alabama Huntsville Chargers on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Choctaws will improve to 4-1-0 in the season and 2-0-0 in GSC play. UAH will fall to 0-5-1 and 0-2-0 in GSC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Choctaws came out on the offensive attack early and finally struck in the 28th minute on a corner kick set play.
Marisa Saunders found
Samantha Carson who put one in the back of the net to give MC the early 1-0 lead. Saunders recorded her second assist on the season and for Carson it was her first goal of the 2018 campaign.
- MC was able to extend their lead in the 39th minute when
Jess Davenport found the back of the net for the third time this season and making the score 2-0 going into half.
- After a hard fought second half, the Choctaws were able to put the game on ice in the 80th minute when
Dani Avelar scored her first career goal as a Lady Choctaw to give MC a 3-0 which would hold to be the final score.

KEY STATS
- The Lady Choctaws were dominate throughout the contest on offense and defense. MC outshot the Chargers 18 to 3, with 13 of those 18 shots being on goal. The Lady Choctaws aggressive play resulted in nine corner kicks, which lead to the first goal of the match, and UAH didn't have a corner kick opportunity in the match.
- MC continued to be play solid defense posting their third shut-out in a row.
Gabby Kayser will notch her fourth victory on the season and recorded two saves in the contest.
- The Lady Choctaws improved to 2-0 in GSC play for the second year in a row and haven't lost since the team's early stumble against Tampa on September 2. MC also hasn't allowed a goal in its last 270 minutes of play.

- The Lady Choctaws will be back in GSC action on Friday September 21 when they take on in-state rival Delta State in Cleveland, Miss. The match is currently set for a 2:00 P.M. start time.
