LAKELAND, Fla. – The Mississippi College baseball team closed out the 2018 season with a 7-1 loss to the fifth-ranked University of Tampa. The game was the fourth consecutive elimination contest for the Choctaws.
MC concluded the campaign with 36 wins – the second most in program history and the most while competing in Division II.

Ty Alderman accounted for the three hits for the Choctaws in the contest. The Spartans posted nine hits and capitalized on four MC miscues.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mississippi College and Tampa fought to a scoreless tie through the first five innings in the contest.
- Tampa struck first in the game as Nick DeTringo scored on a ground-rule double from Darren Miller.
- Tampa extended their lead in the top of the seventh with six runs headlined by a pair of two-run RBI.
- Ty Alderman placed the Choctaws on the board with a RBI double to right field as he scored Hunter Wilson.

- Chris Crosby (7-6) struck out eight in six innings with one run allowed on four hits.
- Cheyne Bickel (3-3) recorded the win on the mound with 1.2 innings in relief. Bickel allowed one hit, a walk and struck out one.
- Christian Calleja tossed 4.1 innings with two strikeouts and three walks with one hit allowed in the start.
- Brandon Kennedy pitched 3.1 frames in relief and allowed four runs on four hits with two strikeouts.
- Hunter Lacefield allowed a pair of runs on one hit with a walk in relief.
