LAKELAND, Fla. – The Mississippi College baseball team advanced in the NCAA Division II South Regional with a 6-3 win over Albany State University. The Choctaws face Nova Southeastern in the second elimination game of the day.
The win was the first for the Navy and Gold in a NCAA Division II Regional.
MC had three multiple-hit efforts in the victory as
Hunter Wilson,
Grant Barber and
Luke Yancey each recorded two hits. Wilson logged the only multi-RBI performance with three RBI.
Austin Chastang (3-2) recorded the win on the mound for the Choctaws.
Tommy Taborda logged his fifth save on the season to tie for the team lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Choctaws logged their first run as Wilson scored on a throwing error by the Golden Rams' catcher in attempt to erase Trey Pittman, who stole second.
- Wilson collected his second hit of the day with a two-RBI single to right field to score Grant Barber and Blaine Crim.
- Barber drove in the fourth run of the game for the Choctaws with a single to right field that plated Brandon Broussard.
- Albany State scored again in the bottom of the fourth as Ryan McClendon scored on a ground out.
- The Choctaws add a pair in the top of the seventh as Barber scored on a Wilson sacrifice fly and Luke Yancey followed with a RBI double to send Crim across the plate.
- ASU added a run in the bottom of the seventh to clip the lead in half.
ON THE MOUND
- Zack Ingram tossed four innings with five strikeouts and a pair of walks. The sophomore hurler allowed two runs on five hits.
- Chastang tossed four innings in relief with a pair strikeouts and one run allowed on two hits.
- Taborda pitched the final inning with a strikeout and walk in the relief performance.
NOTEABLES
- The 34 wins this season are tied for third most in program history with the 2003 Choctaws.
- The second meeting between Mississippi College and Albany State. The Choctaws claimed the first meeting, 5-4, on March 21, 1996.
