MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team secured a spot in the Gulf South Conference Women's Tennis Championship Final's match with their 5-1 win over #33 Montevallo on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Choctaws improve to 20-1 on the season.
In double's action, the Lady Choctaws picked up two of the three possible points up for grabs.
Brenna Keller and
AnneMarie Kimball picked up an 8-4 win in the number one flight, and
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera and
RebeccaGrace Kimball notched an 8-0 win from the number three flight to give MC the early 2-1 advantage.
In singles, A. Kimball (6-3, 6-1) and R. Kimball (6-3,6-4) picked up straight-set wins, while
Aneta Golawska (5-2, retired) won by retirement. R. Kimball's win in the number six flight clinched the match for the Lady Choctaws.
The Lady Choctaws will face off against #3 West Florida for the rights to a Gulf South Conference Championship on Saturday from Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
