MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The number 33 ranked Mississippi College women's tennis team cruised their way to an 8-1 victory over Auburn University at Montgomery on Sunday afternoon in their regular-season finale. With the win, the Lady Choctaws finish out the regular season at 18-1 overall, and 11-1 against Gulf South Conference opponents.
In doubles action, the duo of
Brenna Keller and
AnneMarie Kimball bested Julia Enderink and Sofia Navarro 8-6 in the number one flight, improving to a team-best 15-2 record.
Tori Roberts and
Aneta Golawska (8-4) improved to 13-5 on the year with their win in the number two matchup, and Sofia Gonzalez-Carrer and RebaccaGrace Kimball (8-2) saw their 2018 record climb to 13-1 with their win in the number three matchup.
In singles,
Brenna Keller (6-0, 6-3),
Nicole Bueno (6-0, 6-0) and A. Kimball (6-1, 6-3) all downed their opponents in straight sets. Carrera defeated Tonja Foessmeier 6-2, 5-7, 10-2 in three sets at the number three flight.
The Lady Choctaws will return to action on Thursday, April 19 when they open up play in the Gulf South Conference Women's Tennis Championship from the O'Connor Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala. The Lady Choctaws will take on Lee University in round one, with first serve at 1:30 p.m.
