LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 72-58 at the University of West Alabama on Saturday afternoon. MC moved to 8-15 overall and 4-13 in the Gulf South Conference. UWA improved to 13-11 and 10-7 in the conference.

Turning Point
West Alabama used a 7-0 run over during a two-minute span to grab a 21-point lead midway through the second quarter. Tazsa Garrett-Hammett led the charge during the run with back-to-back baskets. Peyton Parker added a 3-pointer during the spurt.

- Zariah Matthews led Mississippi College in scoring with 18 points. Lauran Sheriff added 12 points for the Navy and Gold.
- Kelley Allen led MC on the glass with seven rebounds.
- Four Tigers scored in double figures led by Garrett-Hammett with 17 points. Chloe Culpepper added 16 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Elaine Field and Parker each added 14 points.
- Mississippi College shot 32.8 percent from the field while UWA connected on 39.7 percent. The Tigers posted a clip of 35.3 from behind the arc.

- The Lady Choctaws held UWA without a field goal for over two and half minutes late in the quarter. Kim Parrish broke the streak with a layup with 39 seconds to play in the period and helped UWA led 27-16 at the end of the first quarter.
- The Tigers opened the second quarter on a 13-3 run as they knocked down 6 of their first 8 field goals.
- Both teams went cold in the final minutes of the second quarter as the two were a combined 3 for 18 from the floor. MC's last field goal in the quarter came with 2:31 left before the half on a layup from Matthews.
- West Alabama led by 17 points at the intermission, 45-28.
- The Lady Choctaws opened the third quarter with the first, five points to pull the deficit to within 45-33, but went cold late in the quarter as they only connected on 1 of its last eight field goals.
