JACKSON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team was able to hold off the Union University Lady Bulldogs this afternoon 1-0 and improve to 7-0 in Gulf South Conference play.
The Lady Choctaws will improve to 9-1-0 overall and 7-0 in GSC play.
The Lady Bulldogs will fall to 0-10-0 overall and 0-7 in GSC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Choctaws were able to get an early lead in the 21
st minute when captain
Katie Taylor scored on a pass from freshman
Marisa Saunders making the score 1-0.
- MC was on the attack throughout the match but couldn't add on to their lead, but were able to shutout Union to earn their seventh GSC victory of the season.

KEY STATS
- The Lady Choctaws were a continuous threat on offense throughout the match, recording 20 shots with five being on goal.
- The MC defense had their best showing of the season so far, not only were they able to shutout Union but they only allowed the Lady Bulldogs one shot in the entire match. Union's lone shot was not on goal.

Marisa Saunders notched her fourth assist on the season in the contest and the freshman is the team leader in assists on the year.

- The Lady Choctaws will be back at Robert P. Longabaugh Field next weekend for a pair of GSC matches. First they will face West Georgia on Friday Oct. 12 and then Valdosta State on Sunday Oct. 14 Â Â Â
