Lady Choctaw Offense Shines in 4-1 Victory Over Christian Brothers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team stayed unbeaten in GSC play this afternoon with a 4-1 win over Christian Brothers.

The Lady Choctaws will improve to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in GSC play.

The Lady Buccaneers will fall to 5-3-1 overall and 4-2 in GSC play.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Choctaws were able to strike early in the 16th minute when a cross from Jess Davenport found Lauren Smith who headed it into the net giving MC the early 1-0 lead.
- MC was able to extend the lead just seconds before the first half ended. Rita Okoro was able to score her second goal of the season on an assist from Marisa Saunders making it 2-0 at the half.
- In the second half the Lady Choctaws didn't let up and added to their lead in the 52nd minute when Okoro struck again for her second goal of the match off of a pass from Dani Avelar making it 3-0.
- CBU was able to cut in to the lead in the 56th minute when Bailey Tadlock got the Lady Buccaneers on the board on a cross by Anna Della Rosa making the score 3-1.
- MC was able to finish off the Lady Buccaneers in the 67th minutes when freshman Abbie Hanna scored her first career goal giving the match its final score of 4-1.
 

KEY STATS
- Okoro was the standout on the afternoon with her first multi-goal performance of her MC career.
- Davenport continued to be a playmaker for the Lady Choctaws notching her first assist of the year.
- The Lady Buccaneers were outscoring GSC opponents 19-4 through their first five matches but the MC defense was able to hold them in check only allowing one goal on ten shots.  
 

NEXT UP
- The Lady Choctaws will be back in action this Sunday in Jackson, Tenn. as they face Union at 1:00 P.M.
