HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons were able to capitalize on a rare defensive mistake by the Lady Choctaws as Medhali Hernandez was able to put one in the top right corner of the net off of a throw-in play to give Montevallo an early 1-0 lead.
- The Lady Choctaws had an opportunity to tie the match in the 26th minute when
Katie Taylor stepped up to take a penalty kick. Taylor's attempt was saved by Falcons goalkeeper Annie Mason and Montevallo was able to carry that momentum into the half with the score still 1-0.
- In the second half the Lady Choctaws were finally able to get the momentum back and tie the match in the 53rd minute when
Lauren Smith was able to score an unassisted goal to put MC on the board and make it 1-1.
- Just three minutes later, Smith was able to strike again this time on an assist from
Samantha Carson which gave the Lady Choctaws the 2-1 lead. The MC defense would hold the lead until the final whistle blew giving the match its final of 2-1.
