MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team fell to the University of Montevallo 2-0 this Friday evening in Gulf South Conference play.
The Choctaws will fall to 6-5-0 overall and 4-4 in GSC play.
The Falcons will improve to 4-9-0 overall and 3-5 in GSC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was a back and forth affair with neither team being able to score. The Choctaws were able to outshoot the Falcons 10 to 7 and had the momentum after the first 45 minutes.
- The Falcons were able to weather the Choctaw storm early in the second half and put one on the board in the 62nd minute when Filippo Peri was able to find the back of the net with the assist going to Ruben Carvalho.
- Just three minutes later in the 65th, the Falcons were able to put in an insurance goal when Antoni Matabosch was able to dribble by the Choctaw keeper and put one in the bottom right corner of the net making it 2-0. Montevallo was able to hold on and shutout MC for the rest of the match and secured the victory.

KEY STATS
- The Choctaws were able to fire off 26 shots in the match and outshot the Flacons 26 to 10 but were unable to convert on their opportunities.
- Montevallo's goalkeeper Robert Kuta had an amazing performance recording 10 saves on those 26 shots that he faced.
- The loss drops the Choctaws to 7th in the GSC standings and the team will need climb back up to 6th place if they want a bid to the GSC Tournament which starts on Oct. 30th.
NEXT UP
- The Choctaws will have a chance to bounce back in GSC play this Sunday as they travel to face Auburn Montgomery with the match set to start at 3:30 p.m.
