CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team returns to Gulf South Conference action as it travels to the University of West Florida and Valdosta State University. Sunday's contest in Pensacola, Fla., is slated for 2 p.m. while Tuesday's tip in Valdosta, Ga., is marked for 4:30 p.m. central.
THE SERIES
• Mississippi College and West Florida meet for the ninth time in series history on Sunday afternoon. UWF enters the contest riding a five-game, win streak and holds a 5-3 mark against the Lady Choctaws. MC's last win in the series came on Dec. 18, 2014 in a 56-55 decision in Clinton. MC and VSU meet for the 28th time with VSU holding a 17-10 in the series. Tuesday marks the 18th GSC meeting between the two teams.
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE NOTES
• Mississippi College looks to snap a two-game slide as it enters the Sunday contest against West Florida. The Lady Choctaws have dropped two consecutive, GSC outings to No. 21 North Alabama and Alabama-Huntsville at A.E. Wood Coliseum.

Kelley Allen and
Ieisha Lacey led MC in scoring in the setback to UAH. Allen led with 18 points while Lacey added 14 points. It marked the 26th time Allen has scored in double figures in her career and sixth this season. Lacey notched her 10th, career double-digit contest and eighth on the campaign. Allen also recorded a team-best seven rebounds.
• The Lady Choctaws outscored UAH in the paint by 14 points (36-22), including 18 points in the third quarter. MC was also able to capitalize on Charger miscues with 20 points coming off 17 UAH turnovers. MC posted 12 points off fast breaks while holding the Chargers to zero points in transition.
• A trio of Lady Choctaws average double figures this season led by Allen's 13.9 points per game. Lacey sits second on the team averaging 11.9 points followed by
Lauran Sheriff with 10.8 points per outing.
• Allen is one of two players in the GSC to average a double-double this season. The Puckett, Miss., native averages 13.9 points and a GSC-best 11.1 rebounds. North Alabama's Ivy Wallen joins Allen with 16.1 points and 10.4 assists per contest this season.
• Mississippi College ranks third in the GSC blocked shots with 3.62 per game. The Lady Choctaws have totaled 47 blocks in 13 games this season. Sheriff leads the league with 1.0 per game while Allen averages 0.9 blocks.
WEST FLORIDA NOTES
• West Florida stands 8-4 on the season and 3-2 in the GSC after falling 60-51 at Lee on Thursday. The loss snapped a two-game win streak in conference play for the Argos, which included wins at Shorter and against Montevallo.
• A pair of Argonauts average double figures on the season. Halee Nieman paces UWF with 16.2 points per game while Shami Goodman averages 12.8 points. Courtney Meyer paces the team with 10.8 rebounds per contest.
• West Florida stands 4-1 at home this season, including victories over Saint Leo (71-47), Tuskegee (86-56), Valdosta State (67-58) and Montevallo (98-86). UWF's lone loss at home came in a 83-72 decision against West Alabama.
• Meyer leads the GSC in blocks with 2.6 per contest while UWF ranks second in the league with 3.92 per game. Lee University leads the GSC in blocks with 4.71 blocks an outing.
VALDOSTA STATE NOTES
• Madi Mitchell leads the Lady Blazers with 15.9 points per game, which is sixth among the leaders in the GSC while Samone' Dixon Kenya paces the Red and Black on the glass with 9.7 rebounds.
• Valdosta State is 9-4 on the season and 3-2 in the GSC after winning five of its last six outings, including a 63-41 victory at Shorter on Thursday evening.
