CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team returns to A.E. Wood Coliseum on Saturday, Jan. 27 as it faces in-state foe Delta State University. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

THE SERIES
• Mississippi College and Delta State meet for the 63rd time with the Lady Statesmen leading the series 53-9. The two squads split the meetings last season. MC picked up an 82-77 victory in A.E. Wood Coliseum on Dec. 1, but fell 63-45 on Feb. 6 at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
 
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE NOTES
• Mississippi College looks to snap a two-game slide after falling 83-63 at Shorter University on Monday afternoon. A pair of Lady Choctaws scored in double figures led by Kelley Allen with 16 points. Lauran Sheriff added 11 points. The double-digit scoring effort was the 30th of Allen's career and 10th this season. Sheriff has 12 double figure scoring performances this season - the most of any Lady Choctaw this season.
• Emery Wilson led MC with eight rebounds. It marks the third time this season the Jackson, Miss., native has paced the Navy and Gold on the glass and the first time since Nov. 18 against LeMoyne-Owen College.
• A trio of Lady Choctaws are averaging double figures this season led by Allen with 13.7 points per game. The Puckett, Miss., native also leads the team on the glass with 9.7 rebounds per contest. Ieisha Lacey and Sheriff sit tied for second on the team in scoring with 10.6 points per outing.
• Mississippi College ranks fourth in the GSC in assists per game (15.6) while Zan Ratcliffe sits third in the GSC in assists with 5.1 per outing. The Lady Choctaws rank fifth in the league in blocked shots per game (3.1) and are led by Sheriff averaging 1.1 blocks - which is tied for fifth in the conference.
• Allen ranks second in the GSC in rebounds per game with 9.7. The senior has led the team in rebounds in 12 games this season.
• Paul Allen Duke is among three head coaches in the Gulf South Conference to coach 20-plus seasons. Duke, who is in his 23rd season at the helm at MC, is the third longest tenured head coach in the conference. Delta State's Craig Roden and Montevallo's Gary Van Atta have each coached 28 seasons.
 
DELTA STATE NOTES
• Delta State enters Saturday's in-state matchup with a 7-11 mark and 5-7 in the Gulf South Conference following a 65-57 win at Shorter University. Alondrea Rush led the Lady Statesmen with 25 points - one fewer than her career-high and the sixth time she has scored 20-plus this season. Takisha Jordan added 16 points while Alexis Ross supplied 10 points. Jordan has scored in double figures in 16 games this season.
• DSU has held opponents to less than 60 points in 12 of its 18 games, including holding the opposition to 10 points or fewer in a quarter in 12 of the last 15 games. The Green and White are holding opponents to 56.5 points per game which is second in the conference.
• The Lady Statesmen tied Shorter with 36 rebounds in the contest, including equaling a season-high with 13 offensive rebounds.
• Rush and Jordan average double figures in the scoring column this season. Rush leads the team with 14.6 points while Jordan has 13.4 points per game. Raven Johnson paces the Lady Statesmen on the glass with 6.4 rebounds per contest.
• Rush ranks second in the GSC in free throw percentage as she shoots 82.1 percent on the season. Union's Sara Lytle leads the league with 89.2 percent.
